Smart Smoke Sensor will warn you if it detects smoke in your cabin, indicating a potential fire threat. This battery-powered, simple and inexpensive sensor can prevent enormous damage not only on your boat, but on nearby boats as well.

Technical Specifications

  • Power: DC2*1,5V Alkaline AA batteries

  • Consumption: <10uA (standby), <70mA (alert)

  • Alert loudness: >85dB(A) at a 3-meter distance

  • Smoke sensitivity: 0,108-0,141 dB/m

  • Battery life: 5 years

  • Self-check interval: every 7 days

Working Principle

When the sensor is successfully installed and added to the system via the mobile application, the sensor will start scanning the air density using photoelectric technology. The photoelectric technology is more sensitive in detecting slow smoldering fires which generate light smoke, little heat and may smolder for hours before bursting into flames.

The sensor status is shown on the Active sensors page in the mobile application. The blue sensor icon indicates that the sensor is not detecting any smoke, while the red sensor icon indicates smoke detection and potential fire.

In the case of a smoke incident, the smoke sensor will repeat a beeping signal (BI 0,5s –0,5s pause – BI 0,5s –0,5s pause – BI 0,5s –1,5s pause, with red LED flashes) and send a Sigfox radio messages. If you are using the Active Prevention Package the alerts will be forwarded to you, and optionally your marina and additional contacts, via a notification on your smartphone, e-mail message and phone call. If you are using the Basic Prevention Package the alerts will be forwarded to you only via e-mail and push notification.

By tapping on the smoke sensor icon in the Active sensors page you can see the sensor’s health. Health represents the ratio between the number of messages the system received from the sensor and the number of messages the system was expected to receive. If those numbers are the same, the system is at 100% health. If the number of received messages drops, the sensor health will start dropping as well.

Here you can also find information how often the sensor should send a message and when did it send it’s last message.

The sensor does not require any additional configuration in the mobile application, but it can be (de)activated from it. It is also equipped with a test button to periodically test its functionality. In case of a false smoke alert, the test button is used to reset the alert.

DISCLAIMER: This sensor is not a life-saving device nor certified/designed as a fire alarm system if you are legally obliged to have one on your boat. This sensor is designed to be used exclusively for informative purposes while the boat is at its contract berth under the surveillance of your home marina covered with the Sigfox signal. In order to work, the sensor requires valid annual subscription. The sensor is not designed to be used while the boat is in navigation and under the owner's surveillance or at a temporary berth in another marina not covered with the Sigfox signal.

The sensor is manufactured by Siterwell Electronics Co., Ltd.
